Geothermal Energy
Geothermal energy works by using heat from the earth to produce steam. One way to use geothermal energy is to release pressure by drilling into a place in the earth where steam or hot water is located. When the released hot water becomes steam, it turns the turbines and generate electricity.
The advantages of geothermal energy is the plants are inexpensive to operate and build and it has no radioactive hazards or air pollution.
The disadvantages of geothermal energy is that it is limited to areas where there is magma close to the earth's surface and that there can be pollutants in the water deep in the earth that could contaminate the streams and rivers.
